<B>1941 50C PR66 PCGS.</B></I> A powerful strike brings out excellent delineation in the design elements, and bright surfaces exhibit just the slightest hint of incipient gold patina. Walter Breen (1977) notes that many specimens lack the "AW" monogram (this includes the present example). He states: "... they are all from the same working die which has been much repolished or lapped, probably to obliterate clash marks. An earlier state shows weak AW."
