We offer a vintage 1940's pair of beer advertising sconces. The beer is 'Ruppert Knickerbocker Beer' and was brewed by the Ruppert Brewery in New York City. Jacob Ruppert was a co-owner of the NY Yankees in 1919, the year they signed Babe Ruth to a contract. Ruppert bought the team solely in 1922, and the Family kept ownership till 1945. The beer was known as 'New York's famous Beer'.
The sconces shades are paper and the bottom portion has a duck made of hard plastic. Each has a single light fixture that has a turn on/off switch on the bottom. The plastic ducks have lost most of their coloring, But could easily be repainted if you so desire. The shades are in real nice shape for being 60 years old. The graphics and finish are in great condition. They do have some age issues on the back where they fit onto the metal brackets. They are fine, But they will need to be handled delicately. They measure 14 1/4" high, and 14" wide from beak to tail. The wiring looks and works fine. These have about 18" of wire on each with plugs on the ends. They could easily be hard wired into a wall also. These are a great find and true pieces of New York City history from the golden years.
