This is an example of a Commercial Mauser Banner Style Contract Luger pistol chambered in the extremely rare 7.65 mm Luger cartridge. Mauser P.08 Banners were used to fill German Police contracts, commercial sales, both inside and outside of Germany. There were approximately 700 produced in this "w" serial number block, in late 1939 and early 1940, with those chambered in 7.65 mm considered as commercial sales within German. This pistol is unique marked on the left side of the barrel "Kal 7,65". These Lugers exhibit nice workmanship with a high quality blue finish with the straw colored small parts. The top of the chamber dated 1940 with the Mauser Banner trademark stamped on the front toggle. They are numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (6649w) stamped on the front of the frame with the partial number (6649) stamped on the left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. The various small parts are all numbered with the last two digits (49). The left side of the breechblock. This Luger is fitted with an unmarked, all blued magazine with the aluminum base marked "CAL 7,65".

Condition:
Fine as professionally restored with 99% of the refinished blued finish with minor edge wear only overall, with some minor spotting on the sides of the magazine. The markings have been restamped/re-engraved. The small parts retain most of their straw colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition mixed with some minor handling marks and light wear across the tops of the checkering.
