1939-S 50C Oregon MS68 NGC.
1939-S 50C Oregon MS68 NGC. The obverse of this exquisite Superb Gem has the 'tab toning' pattern coveted by specialists. Rich golden-brown colors outline the border and center hole of the 'tab' pattern, which has faint streaks of russet patina across its creamy pearl-gray surface. The strike is razor-sharp, with splendid definition on the back on the oxen, the second T in STATES, and the rear of the Conestoga wagon, all of which are often incomplete. A nearly pristine Commemorative. Originally issued only as part of a PDS set. Only 3,005 pieces were struck, with the extra five pieces presumably intended for assay. 1939 was the end of the trail for the long-lived Oregon type, which was first struck in 1926. Population: 6 in 68, none finer (7/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
