<B>1939 Eddie Collins Signed Government Postcard.</B></I> Considered one of the greatest bunters and lead-off men in baseball history, "Cocky" Collins finished his career with 3,315 hits, 744 steals and a lifetime average of .333. The 1914 American League MVP provided a 9+/10 black fountain pen signature for a collector the year of his Hall of Fame induction, mailed from the city of Boston where he would pass away in 1951. Very minor paper loss on verso from scrapbook removal. One of many government postcards from the collection of young Howard Lyon presented within this auction.
