1939-1946: Extremely scarce Emergency Service Medal - An tSeirbhís Séiplíneachta

With one additional service bar, box of issue and presidential issuing slip. The Emergency Service Medal was instituted on the 6th of October 1944 while production and the issuing of the medals began in 1947. All medals have a common obverse but have different reverses depending on which part of the military or naval service the recipient served in. By far the rarest of these is the Chaplaincy Service medal and while an exact number of those issued is impossible to determine due to the absence of medal rolls it is estimated to be somewhere in the region of just 50. In this case the medal was awarded to one of the small numbers of chaplains who served either in uniform with the military or officiated for them at services for a period not less than 365 days, while the additional award bar indicates an additional two years service. A scarce opportunity to acquire one of the rarest of Irish military medals. Also with blank Emergency Service Certificate for a member of the Chaplaincy Service.
