1938-D 50C Oregon MS68 PCGS. This coin has a lot of eye appeal, most of which stems from the crimson-orange and sea-green toning that overlays much of the obverse periphery. Similar colors are noted at the reverse rim, but they are less extensive and largely confined to the right side. Medium intensity champagne-gray patina blankets the central obverse with more of a slate-gray appearance on the reverse. The razor sharp strike allows full appreciation of the bold and symbolic design, but it is the awe-inspiring combination of surface preservation and eye appeal that undoubtedly secured the MS68 grade from PCGS. A simply fabulous '38-D Oregon Commem, and one of only 15 so graded at PCGS. There is just one finer at the certification service (10/02).From the Trane Collection.
