<B>1938 50C Texas MS67 PCGS.</B></I> On his design for the Texas half, for the small-script legends E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST, sculptor Pompeo Coppini used the letter V in place of U. Whether his inspiration was Hermon MacNeil's Standing Liberty quarter, Italian-born Anthony de Francisci's Peace dollar, or something else entirely is unknown. By contrast, the immense visual appeal of this piece is obvious. Zones of magenta, lime-green, violet, and gold patina grace each side, and vibrant luster shines beneath.
