1938 50C New Rochelle Specimen MS68 * NGC.
1938 50C New Rochelle Specimen MS68 * NGC.<p>According to Walter Breen, there were fifty presentation pieces struck of the New Rochelle issue. These were stuck with a single blow from polished dies on a proof planchet. While business strikes produced from fresh dies will also be somewhat prooflike, they lack the sharpness of the present specimen, especially on the hide of the calf and the central base of the rose. The dies have been heavily polished on the present coin, which has a forest of faint die polish lines (as struck) in the reverse field. The borders have light yellow-green patina, and there is a wispy handling mark between LL in DOLLAR. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
