1937-D 5C Three-Legged MS61 NGC. FS-020.2 The 1937-D Three-Leg nickel, according to David Lange (2000), " ... was evidently discovered by, or at least first publicized by, C.L. 'Cowboy' Franzen. He was advertising them for sale in The Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine as early as 1937-38." The MS61 specimen offered in this lot exhibits light to medium gray toning with red-gold accents. The design elements are generally well impressed, though there is minor softness in the hair at the bison's forehead. The date, LIBERTY, the horn, and mintmark are sharp. All in all, a very pleasing example for the grade, that is perhaps somewhat conservative.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
