1937-D 50C Arkansas MS67 PCGS. Though Glenna Goodacre was the first woman to create a non-commemorative circulation-strike design, the Sacagawea dollar obverse of 2000, various commemorative coins issued by the United States have designs envisioned or modeled by female artists, gifted individuals such as Laura Gardin Fraser, Gertrude K. Lathrop, and Elizabeth Jones. This exquisitely preserved 1937-D Arkansas half reflects the special touch of yet another sculptress, native daughter Emily Bates. Bands of cerulean, plum, and reddish-orange surround small, brilliant centers. PCGS has graded only one coin finer (3/07).
From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
