Boldly signed in blue ink. Light general soiling and toning; o/w in very good condition. Grade 7. Also included is colorful red, white and blue 1937 All Star Pin with blue ribbon imprinted with players of both teams; plus a celluloid Yankees “Joe Di Maggio” pin. He was also a member of the American League All Star team that year. This ball was caught at Griffith stadium in Washington, DC, a foul ball that the original owner asked Ruth to sign—who was standing in front of his seat at the time. According to the fan’s son, “Not only did he sign it but he asked my father if he wanted him to get some of the other ‘kids’ to sign it. Sometime later, he returned the ball to my father with the signatures of players and former players on it...” Accompanied by July 7, 1937 All-Star Game program picturing FDR throwing a baseball on the cover. Scattered light stains and soiling on cover; else in good/very good condition. COA signed by the original owner’s son present. This game is also notable in that it was during this game that Dizzy Dean broke his toe that led to his abbreviated career as a player. The American League won this game however with Lou Gehrig leading with four RBIs.
