<B>1937 5C PR67 NGC.</B></I> After proof coinage ceased in 1916, the series went 20 years without officially-sanctioned specimen strikes (though the isolated, mysterious pieces of the 1920s and early 1930s are known to collectors today.) Proof coinage was revived in 1936, but the very next year saw the last of the proof Buffalo nickels. This piece, one of just 5,769 examples coined, is part of that final herd. Delicate golden toning is noted over the deeply reflective fields.
