1936 New York Yankees Championship Brown Bat
1936 New York Yankees World Championship Presentational Brown Bat. For seven decades, the presentational Hillerich & Bradsby souvenir bat has been one of the spoils of war for pennant-winning and World Championship ballclubs. Known in modern collecting parlance as "black bats," the coveted keepsakes actually began life colored brown, switching to its customary darker shade in 1938. Here we present the most desirable of all such bats, the very first of its kind, issued to a ballclub featuring American League MVP Lou Gehrig and rookie extraordinaire Joe DiMaggio. Each of their names appears in golden facsimile format upon the polished barrel, joined by those of the balance of this Championship club. Some mild surface wear must be noted, centered mainly at the barrel end, but our catalog imagery should indicate just how little effect this has upon the considerable visual appeal. A missing component in all but the most complete collections, the 1936 "brown bat" always causes a major stir at auction.

Shipping: Bats, Clubs, Sticks, Swords, Rif (view shipping information)
