1936 Elgin Half Dollar
<Our item number 108582>1936 Elgin Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-67. Lovely toning around the edges. Eye-catching satin luster cascades from top to bottom on the vibrant silver surfaces of this beautiful Elgin commemorative. The coin marks the centennial of the city of Elgin, Illinois, the obverse being a copy of "Head of a Pioneer" by Trygve Rovelstad, a name familiar in school history textbooks. The statue from which this head derives is represented on the reverse by the coin's artist who was also sculpted the statue. There were 20,000 Elgins sold at $1.50 each out of an original authorization of 25,000; the remaining 5,000 were returned to the mint and remelted in 1937. Pop 96; 14 finer.
Estimated Value $550-600.

Our item number 108582
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
