<B>1936-D 50C MS67 NGC.</B></I> Bruce Fox (1993) writes of the 1936-D: "Finding the combination of full strike, minimal surfaces abrasions and superior eye appeal can be difficult." That is what makes this specimen so special: it displays bright frosty luster, exquisitely struck design elements (Liberty's left hand and the adjacent branches, for example, illustrate complete delineation), and impeccably preserved surfaces. Just a few luster grazes on the Liberty motif and in the right obverse field, and a couple of small milling marks on the eagle, do not in any way deny the Superb Gem designation.
