1936-D 50C Cincinnati MS67 PCGS. The Commission of Fine Arts, though it wielded some influence in the field of commemorative coinage, held only advisory power. Never was this more apparent as in the case of the Cincinnati halves, wherein politics trumped the sensible protests of Charles Moore, then chairman of the commission. Swirls of pale blue and lilac patina grace the shining surfaces of this exquisitely preserved commemorative. A crescent of vivid orange-gold patina appears at the lower right obverse, while the reverse has an echo of similar color in the exergue below the figure of Music. Population: 27 in 67, 1 finer (3/07).
From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
