1936 Albany 50c PCGS MS65
The otherwise silvery iridescent color yields to warmer satiny hues in the fields around the main devices. Albany was one of the earlier permanent settlements in the 13 original American colonies. Its colonial history began when Englishman Henry Hudson, exploring for the Dutch East India Company on the Half Moon, reached the area in 1609. In 1614 the company constructed Fort Nassau, its first trading post near present-day Albany. (A commemorative Hudson half dollar struck the year before this Albany, commemorates the same Henry Hudson's deeds.) (#9227)
