1936 5C Type One--Satin Finish PR67 PCGS. The vast majority (two-thirds, to be exact) of the proof 1936 Nickels that the Mint sold display a satin finish. Survivors, however, are more elusive that those of the brilliant finish variety, probably because many satin examples were placed into circulation. This is a beautiful and fortunate survivor whose otherwise apricot tinged surfaces reveal isolated swirls of pale silver-gray tinting around the central obverse. Both sides are silky smooth in sheen with nary an ill-defined feature to report. From the BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
