1936<5C> Type One--Satin Finish PR67 NGC. The Philadelphia mint resumed proof Buffalo Nickel production in 1936 with authorization from Secretary of the Treasury Hugh Morgenthau. A total of 4,420 pieces were produced, perhaps 2/3 of which were of the Type One, or Satin Finish type. Interestingly, survivors of this type are scarcer than those of the Brilliant Finish, perhaps because they were less visually appealing and, thus, less well preserved. Competing sprays of rose-golden and powder-blue iridescence dance across both sides. Every feature exhibits razor sharp definition, and the shimmering surfaces are expectantly blemish-free for the Superb level of preservation. A delightful specimen in all regards.
