1936 50C Wisconsin MS68 NGC. Though most numismatists recall David Goode Parsons as the art student who was in over his head when asked to model the 1936 Wisconsin half, his later record as a sculptor validated his talent. With Benjamin Hawkins as an intermediary, the Parsons design eventually appeared on this 1936 issue, represented here by one of the best-preserved survivors. The bright yellow and orange patina that covers each side has hints of gray and russet that are more noticeable on the reverse. Exceedingly lustrous with undeniable visual appeal. One of just five Wisconsins graded MS68 S, with none finer at either NGC or PCGS (3/07).
From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
