1936 50C PR67 NGC. In the early years of modern proof
1936 50C PR67 NGC. In the early years of modern proof coinage, customers could order proof coins from the Mint individually, thus there are varying totals for the proof denominations of each year from 1936 to 1942. In the case of the 1936 proof half dollar, the Mint recorded a total of 3,901 pieces sold, while for the Lincoln cent of that year it sold 5,569 pieces, and of the Mercury dime 4,130 coins. Thus the 1936 proof half dollar is the second-rarest of the year's denominations, edged out by the 1936 Washington quarter, with 3,837 coins sold.
Regardless of the mintage figure, this coin is conditionally rare and elusive, as it is one of only 63 so graded at NGC, with another 18 pieces at PCGS, and only one coin finer at either service (a PR68 at PCGS) (4/07). This example displays remarkably pristine silver-white fields that show little or no trace of color. The strike is impeccably sharp, and the preservation is equally exemplary.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
