1936 50C Elgin MS68 PCGS. Ex: JFS/Jewell. This commemorative celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of Elgin, Illinois. The 2007 Guide Book indicates that: "The year 1673 bears no relation to the event but refers to the year in which Joliet and Marquette entered Illinois Territory."
Sharply struck with exuberant luster, a coating of light speckled apricot patina on both sides, and a band of deep red-orange iridescence near the left obverse border. Well preserved and free of distracting elements, with just one or two inoffensive ticks on the otherwise pristine surfaces. Only eight MS68 coins have been certified by PCGS and NGC, and none have been seen any finer (4/04).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
