1936 50C Albany MS68 PCGS. Struck to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the granting of a charter to the city of Albany. The obverse depicts a beaver gnawing on a maple branch, the reverse shows Governor Thomas Dungan bidding farewell to Robert Livingston and Peter Schuyler who is holding the new Albany City Charter.
Both sides display splendid, speckled apricot-gold patina that is coveted by specialists for its obvious originality. Creamy smooth luster underlies the color and only a couple of tiny marks are seen on the beaver. A lustrous, well struck, and exquisitely preserved Superb Gem. This is the single finest Albany thus far graded by PCGS (1/05), NGC has seen five MS68 specimens, some are likely resubmissions.
From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set. Lot:4142
