<B>1936 50C Albany MS68 NGC.</B></I> The 250th anniversary of Albany, New York's charter was the occasion for this commemorative issue, and while many numismatists have pointed out that this celebration was of strictly local importance, it should be noted that Albany was far from the worst offender in this regard; New Rochelle and Cincinnati come to mind. The appealing art of Gertrude K. Lathrop further redeems this questionable issue of 1936.<BR> This outstanding piece displays vibrant colors over each side. Ruby, magenta, and orange-gold patina drapes the shining obverse, while the reverse has prominent crimson and violet tab toning with silver-gray over the remainder.
