1939-45 Star, Africa Star (with 1st Army clasp), Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and General Service Medal (GVI 1st type) with clasp 'Palestine'. The last officialy named to 6979443 Fsr. D. P. O'Connell R. Ir. Fus (rubbing to number). 6979443 Fusilier Daniel P. O'Connell was later promoted to Sergeant and killed on 16 November 1943 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was the son of Daniel and Ellen O'Connell, of Spangle Hill, Cork and is commemorated on the Athens Memorial. He was also mentioned in despatches, London Gazette 13 September 1945.
