1935 Joe Sewell Signed Uniform Player's Contract
1935 Joe Sewell Signed Uniform Player's Contract. In three years and 1,511 at bats as a New York Yankee, the Hall of Fame third baseman struck out just fifteen times, furthering his reputation as the most eagle-eyed batsman in the game. Two years after hanging up his reliable bat, Sewell's services as a Yankee coach were secured by team owner Jacob Ruppert for the sum of four thousand dollars with this April 2, 1935 contract. Sewell and Ruppert sign their consent to the terms in bold black ink at the close, and American League president William Harridge signs the cover in equally strong fashion (Ruppert's autograph secretarially signed by Ed Barrow). Contract exhibits light wear on original storage folds, but no damage to speak of. A very desirable Hall of Fame contract from a true Golden Age superstar. Be sure to see the other contemporary New York Yankees contracts also offered within this auction. LOA from PSA/DNA.
