1935 5C Doubled Die MS64 PCGS. FS-018. DDR 1-R-V. Dram
1935<5C> Doubled Die MS64 PCGS. FS-018. DDR 1-R-V. Dramatic die doubling on the reverse has shifted a copy of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and FIVE CENTS southwest, along with the bison's eye, hair, and horn, all of which also show strong doubling. This phenomenally beautiful near-Gem example offers amber-cherry toning on each side, with a dollop of heather on the highpoints. The Cherrypickers' Guide says that this variety is rare above VF, with about 10 Mint State specimens known. If that is true, it is doubtful that many pieces could exceed this one in condition--and it is almost certain that none could exceed it in eye appeal. This popular Guide Book variety is unpriced above AU50 in that reference. Attributed as Doubled Die Reverse on the PCGS slab. Population: 4 in 64, 1 finer (7/06).
