1935 50C Spanish Trail MS68 PCGS. Ex: Bruce Scher. Slender bands of vivid apricot, lime, and russet color hug the margins of this satiny Superb Gem, which is dominated by pearl-gray hues throughout the exposed fields. Fully struck, and not far from pristine. Although Q. David Bowers takes partial credit for the New Hampshire Statehood Quarter, L.W. Hoffecker may be the only eventual ANA President officially credited as a designer for a Commemorative type. Hoffecker was the chairman of fund raising for the El Paso museum for the quatrocentennial Spanish Trail celebrations. His committee distributed the type, noteworthy for a low mintage of 5,000 pieces. Although Gems are not especially rare, the PCGS population dwindles dramatically in higher grades. As of (2/07), only one other Spanish Trail half has received the lofty grade of MS68 from PCGS.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
