<B>1935 50C Spanish Trail MS67 NGC.</B></I> Rather than placing yet another fanciful portrait on a commemorative, L.W. Hoffecker, designer and distributor of the Spanish Trail commemorative, opted for the head of a cow. While a faithful translation of the name of the trekker who made the route famous, the overall effect left something to be desired. Light golden-gray patina covers most of this unusually well-preserved Spanish Trail half. A sliver of deep orange graces the left obverse, while similar color just touches the rim at the corresponding place on the satiny reverse. A carefully preserved representative of this low-mintage issue.
