1935 50C Connecticut MS66 NGC. The venerable Charter O
1935 50C Connecticut MS66 NGC. The venerable Charter Oak, more than 500 years old when a patriot hid the Royal Charter inside it in 1687 to prevent its seizure by representatives of Britain's King James II, stood as a symbol of Connecticut for another 170 years until it was toppled during a storm on Aug. 21, 1856. The revered old tree and the modernistic eagle on the reverse make an odd pairing. This piece displays lightly patinated silver-gray surfaces with a ring of magenta and gold on the reverse. A few stray nicks are noted on the tree base.
From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
