Only a solitary tick at the base of Boone's hair denies an even higher grade. The 1935-D Boone with 1934 in the field reigns as the lowest mintage Silver Commemorative issue. Just 2,003 pieces were struck, one less than its S-mint counterpart. Contemporary collectors struggling to acquire such pricey issues as the 1935 Hudson had no less than six varieties of 1935-dated Boones to contend with, as the type was struck at all three mints with and without 1934 in the field.
