It seems that few bags of this issue were paid out, and most of the coins from bag sources seem to have been lower grade pieces that were absorbed by the market long ago. Near-Gem and Gem examples are usually obtainable for a price, but Superb examples, such as this one, are rare indeed. Only three such pieces have been certified by each of the major services with none finer (3/06). This coin has a distinctive and rather unusual appearance for a Peace dollar. It is extensively toned in every conceivable color of the rainbow. The multiple layers of toning are underlaid by bright, sparkling mint luster, and the striking details are fully brought up on each side. While 1934 dollars are often found with cleaner-than-usual surfaces, this piece is especially noteworthy in that regard.
From The Robert Moreno Registry Collection of Peace Dollars.
