1932-D<25C> MS64 PCGS. For years, the 1932-D and 1932-S quarters, both key dates for the Washington quarter series, were at about the same price and level of interest. Paul Green, in an interesting article entitled "1932-S quarter losing ground to 1932-D" published in the March 14, 2006 issue of Numismatic News, notes that this has changed over time. He writes that: "...the higher mintage 1932-D (is) actually...tougher in higher grades than the 1932-S. Green continues: "...by MS60, the 1932-D is at $1,000, while the 1932-S is at $500....in MS65 the 1932-D is at $26,500, while the 1932-S is at $7,700." The near-Gem '32-D offered here displays radiant luster overlain with mottled cobalt-blue and purplish patina, and the design elements are exceptionally well struck. A few minute marks on the Washington and eagle motifs define the grade. PCGS has seen 64 pieces finer (3/06).
