1932<$10> MS66 PCGS. Ex: Duckor Collection. The 1932 is the most commonly encountered ten Indian in all grades. In fact, it is the most frequently seen ten dollar of all dates from 1795 through 1933. The mintage was 4.46 million pieces--a number that represents nearly one-third of the mintage for the entire ten Indian design type. Similarly, the certified population for the 1932 is more than one-third of the all other date and mintmarks in the series combined. Obviously, the main attraction of this date is its availability as a type coin for the series. Thousands of 1932 tens are available in MS60 to MS65 grades. It is only at the MS66 level that this date is notably scarce. And even in that condition almost 200 coins have been certified. At the MS67 level the 1932 is rarely seen, with a mere 6 pieces certified by the two major services (1 PCGS, 5 NGC). Obviously, a common date in such an uncommon condition is seldom offered for sale, and these few coins are held in major collections.
This coin that is possessed with thick mint frost. Coloration can vary widely on '32s, with this example displaying variegated red-gold and yellow-gold patina, intermixed. The striking details are unusually strong including almost complete highpoint definition at the top of the eagle's wing. Like the 1926, many 1932 eagles have what Akers (1988) characterized as: "unsightly surface 'cuts' that seem heavier than typical bagmarks." A specimen, like this coin, without such marks, is eagerly sought by type collectors. For future identification purposes, a small, circular area of discoloration surrounds a microscopic alloy spot at the top of the Indian's forehead. Population: 68 in 66, 1 finer (3/06).
Indian Eagle Selections from the Dr. Steven L. Duckor Collection.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid. This lot is being auctioned in conjunction with a live floor auction by Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers. All final auction and invoice information will be supplied by Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers, and all other information should be considered preliminary.
