1931-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS
1931-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS. Lange (2005) described the 1931-S dime as an issue: "Though generally well struck, with the exception of the central and lower diagonal bands, this date is challenging to locate in top grades." The 1.8 million pieces struck would be the last dimes coined at San Francisco until 1935, and as a result, most representatives reached circulation despite the Great Depression.
Another passage in Lange describes the proportion of Full Bands survivors as "notably low," but this spectacular Superb Gem showcases the best of the issue. Cream and gold tints visit the shining centers, while the margins show speckled orange and russet patina. Decisively struck, shining, and carefully preserved. PCGS has graded just six examples as MS67 Full Bands, with no finer Full Bands pieces listed in the Population Report (10/07).

Coin Engraver: Adolph A.
