1931 $20 MS65 NGC.
1931 $20 MS65 NGC. Since virtually the entire population of surviving 1931 Saints falls under the Mint State grade category, it is obvious that this elusive Twenty Dollar issue was never released for general circulation. Most of the 2,938,250 pieces originally struck were melted in the Mint and today the '31 is comparable in overall rarity to the highly respected 1932. The example from the North Shore Collection is a satiny Gem with a slightly granular texture to the fields and just a few inconsequential blemishes on the highpoints of Liberty's gown and on eagle's wings. Definitely a real find for the high quality specialist in the challenging Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle series. Population: 9 in 65, 3 finer (11/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
