1931<1C> MS67 Red NGC. The Philadelphia Mint coined more than 19 million cents in 1931. Lincoln cent authority David Lange (1996) writes that survivors in all grades up through Fine are quite available, but become difficult in VF through AU. Mint State coins can be had through the MS66 grade level, though examples with fully red color may require a little more searching. In Superb Gem Red, the level of preservation of the specimen offered here, the 1931 cent becomes a challenge. The highly lustrous surfaces display attractive orange color and sharply struck devices. There are no significant abrasions to report. A handful of light toning spots are seen in the upper reverse field. Census: 11 in 67, 0 finer (4/06).
