Item/Description: 1930s Mahjong set by Pung T. Chow made from bamboo and ox bone.

Mahjong is a traditional Chinese game played with a set of 144 tiles, where four players use skill and strategy to form specific combinations of tiles for a winning hand, enjoying various regional variations as a popular social pastime.

Pung T. Chow was a major producer of popular Mahjong sets in the United States during the 1920s, and the name also refers to the game itself, derived from "pung" (a set of three identical tiles) and "chow" (a run of three consecutive tiles). The Pung Chow Company, noted for its elegant and artistic tile designs, including unique illustrations for dragon and flower tiles, played a significant role in shaping the American Mahjong market.
