Included in this lot is a 1930's Egyptian celluloid beaded purse. In 1922 British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered of King Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The wealth, beauty and artistry he uncovered astounded the world. Everything from fashion to architecture embraced this new and wonderful 3000 year old imagery. This stunning beaded bag features a beautifully carved celluloid clasp depicting a scene with three Sphinx on either side of the clasp. The bag features a variety of bead colors including, cerulean blue, orange, pink, brown, black, turquoise, and pink. The beads are strung in a manor that depicts a scarab beetle in flight. The interior of the bag is a nice dark brown cloth. The bag measures 15” x 7 ¾”.
