1930-S $10 MS64 PCGS. A quick perusal of tonight's Platinum session offerings of 1930-S eagles will certainly prompt the gold specialist to do a double take. The immediate response might be something like "that must be some kind of misprint" or for the less well informed "maybe I am confusing the 1930-S ten dollar with the 1932 ten dollar." We can think of a few others that best stay off the record. To be sure, it almost boggles the numismatic mind to consider that no less than five MS64 and MS65 examples of the highly prized 1930-S Indian eagle will cross the auction block on one night. Since most of what could possibly be said about this low mintage S-mint Indian will be presented in the other four Choice or better examples, we will concentrate here on the coin itself.
This splendid, wholly original example derives much of its beauty from the bountiful frosty luster that shimmers over each side. Light blushes of orange patina can be seen over the major design elements, attractively accenting characteristic yellow-gold surfaces. The strike is more than adequate for the issue, with only a nominal degree of softness noted on the eagle's leg feathers. A few mostly paper-thin luster grazes affect the lower left obverse field and neck area of the portrait. These relatively minor disturbances are all that separates this attractive 1930-S from a Gem rating. Housed in an old second generation PCGS holder.
From The Twin Hollows Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
