1930 Casey Stengel Handwritten Letter from the Casey Stengel Collection. Spectacular content in the offered four-page (two sheets front and back) letter to Casey's mother makes this the finest correspondence from this baseball icon we have ever encountered. He begins with talk of the Brooklyn Dodgers, "...spent Saturday with Robby [Wilbert Robinson]...They also introduced me to Mr. McKeever [Dodgers owner] & he gave me a good welcome but did not ask me to manage their club..." Later he mentions the New York Giants, "...Spent Sunday at Polo Grounds saw Meusel & boys & took dinner at McGraw's..." Finally, he offers hope in the aftermath of the recent Wall Street crash, "...Don't worry about stocks, etc., they will come back as the country comes out of this spell..." His closing signature is the oddly formal yet highly desirable "Charles D. Stengel." All ink remains in fine NRMT condition, and pair of pages of hotel letterhead offer original mailing folds but are otherwise free of any creasing, staining or tearing. A microcosm of 1930 baseball and America straight from the head and hand of the great Casey Stengel. LOA from PSA/DNA.
