1929-S 5C MS66 PCGS. A sharply impressed and expertly preserved Gem, this coin is far superior to the typically offered 1929-S Nickel in today's market. Lovely lilac-gray and powder-blue shadings dominate the outward appearance, but there is a crescent of pale golden patina at the left obverse border. Both sides are silky-smooth with fulsome mint luster. Since many of the 7.7 million Nickels produced in the San Francisco Mint in 1929 were retained in federal vaults until after the Great Depression, this issue did not circulate as widely as many earlier Buffalo Nickel deliveries. Although the '29-S is the most common S-mint issue from the 1920s, it is still a challenging coin to locate as a sharply struck Gem.From the BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels.
