1929-D 5C MS66 PCGS. Like the plate coin in the 2000 book The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels, this sharply struck 1929-D Nickel is, in the words of the author, "atypical." Most Mint State survivors of this D-mint delivery are kept from Gem status by deficient striking quality. Not so the present example. Virtually full, both sides are also free of even a single distracting abrasion. The surfaces are also devoid of bothersome carbon with layers of original olive-gold and orange patina that yield to silver-gray tinting in the center of the reverse. Combined NGC and PCGS Population: 35 in 66, there is only one (MS67 PCGS) graded finer (10/02).From the BTB Collection of Buffalo Nickels. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
