1929-D 50C MS66 PCGS. Despite a limited original mintage of 1 million coins, the 1929-D is the most common Walker from the late 1920s and early 1930s in Mint State. It is probable that a decent percentage of the coins produced never entered circulation. On the other hand, Bruce Fox (The Complete Guide to Walking Liberty Half Dollars) states that "fully struck Gems are not common." This is a simply gorgeous representative that should have little trouble finding its way into a PCGS Registry Set. The powerfully impressed features are full in most areas with emerging definition over the all-important central highpoints. The luster is rich and frosty, and the originality is confirmed by dappled orange and/or russet shadings at the left obverse border and the right reverse border. $4,485 was required to purchase the MS66 PCGS 1929-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar that sold as lot 6313 in our June 2002 sale of the Marvin Elkin Collection (the Jon/Lor PCGS Registry Set).
