1929 $20 MS64 PCGS.
1929 $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1929 inaugurates the final elusive segment of the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle series, with every issue from this year through 1933 being a major rarity. While this issue is the least rare of this group, it is still a coveted key date whose appearance at auction is an occasion of note among specialists. Only a minuscule percentage of the nearly 1.8 million pieces minted survived the recall of gold coinage in the 1930s. In the North Shore Collection is a Choice, frosty representative with considerable radiance from the satiny luster. Surface marks are well scattered and consistently light. With only 15-20 Gems known and the cost of acquisition at least $10,000 higher, this attractive MS64 would perhaps be a more logical choice for the serious Double Eagle collector. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
