1928-D 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. The 1928-D dime is common only in lower grades. Very Fine and Extremely Fine specimens are somewhat scarce, and About Uncirculated and lower Mint State coins are seldom encountered. Near-Gem and finer pieces are elusive, with or without Full Bands. Additionally, David Lange (2005) writes: "More of a problem than incomplete bands ... is a particular susceptibility to flatness in the legends. This phenomenon appears with nearly all dates in this series, but 1928-D rarely appears without it." The boldness of strike on the Gem in this lot transcends the middle bands to encompass nearly all of the design elements. The diagonal bands are sharp, as are the date digits and mintmark, and nearly all of the lettering. To be completely accurate, we mention that just a couple of peripheral letters on each side reveal a touch of softness in their outward portions. Whispers of golden-tan rest upon radiantly lustrous surfaces that exhibit a few inoffensive ticks that prevent this gorgeous specimen from attaining a higher grade. Population: 56 in 65 Full Bands, 17 finer (2/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
