1928 Boston Garden First Event Program & Ticket
1928 Boston Garden First Event Program & Ticket Stub. Designer Tex Rickard built this famous arena with boxing specifically in mind, believing every seat should be close enough to the action to see "the sweat on the boxers' brows." This intimate architecture provided Boston teams with the greatest home court/rink advantage in sports, and certainly played some role in bringing no fewer than seven Stanley Cup Finals and nineteen NBA Finals to center stage. Sixty-seven years of sports history began the night this program and ticket stub were issued, for a program of boxing punctuated by a Featherweight Championship bout between Dick "Honeyboy" Finnegan and France's Andre Routis. The lengthy program, issued for the entirety of the 1928-29 athletic season, has the original special insert at center for the opening event on November 17th, matching the ringside stub for that night. The program shows expected edge wear but remains complete and tightly bound with its original staples. The stub shows expected creasing but likewise presents very nicely. A tremendously rare and historically important matched set for the dedicated Boston booster.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
