1928 50C Hawaiian MS66 PCGS. James Earle and Laura Gardin are not the only Frasers associated with classic American commemoratives. Juliette May Fraser (no relation) created the initial design for the Hawaiian half dollar, the obverse portrait of Captain Cook and the reverse image of the native chief. With refinement by the eventual sculptor, Chester Beach, the Hawaiian became one of the most appealing silver commemoratives coined to that time.
This pleasing Premium Gem is a fitting tribute to the artistry of both Fraser and Beach. The surfaces display soft luster beneath rich orange-gold, silver-gray, and lavender patina. Only a touch of softness is evident on Cook's portrait, and the coin's strong visual appeal is readily apparent. One of the most impressive survivors from this low-mintage issue, and one of the keys to the silver commemorative type set.
From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
