1928 50C Hawaiian MS65 PCGS. Al Doyle, in a recent article in Coinage magazine, says of the 1928 Hawaiian half dollar that it: " ... is one of the keys of the 50-piece set of "traditional" U.S. commemorative halves from 1892 to 1954." Its obverse shows the portrait of Captain James Cook, discoverer of the islands in 1778, while the reverse depicts a Hawaiian chief. The attractive Gem offered here displays splashes of peripheral gold-tan patination that is somewhat deeper and more extensive on the reverse. A sharp strike brings out great detail in the design elements, including the intricacies of the beach landscape on the reverse, such as the palm trees and the native huts. Close examination reveals no significant marks.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
